About Curriculum & Instruction

Welcome to Curriculum & Instruction

                                     Curriculum Standards

The California State Board osubject texts.jpgf Education sets curriculum standards and frameworks in the areas of English-language arts, mathematics, science, history/social science, and visual and performing arts. These standards guide curriculum planning at the school district level. These documents were developed by teachers, curriculum specialists, and administrators and faculty from colleges and universities. They identify what students learn at each grade level in major subject areas.
Content Standards- for detailed information about the knowledge, skills, and concepts students should acquire at each grade level, click on the following link:

TK-5 Revised Progress Reports for the 2015-2016 School Year

Revised OUSD Standards-Based Student Progress Reports

During the 2014-15 school year, a task force of teachers from across the district collaborated to revise our report cards.  This work resulted in the development of standards-based progress reports for transitional kindergarten through grade five.  The 2015-16 school year will be the final year of implementation before formal approval by our Board of Education.

Revisions to the progress reports include the following:

  • The content areas for English Language Arts and Mathematics have been aligned with the state’s standards
  • The life skills section has been updated
  • The grading has been transitioned to a numeric rubric to create a fully aligned system from transitional kindergarten through grade five, and to more accurately communicate a student’s level of proficiency in each of the essential standards

Click here to view a video that provides information about the revised progress reports.
